Introduction to the event in Planica was made a day before the weekend of 19-20 January in Slovenia’s capital. Friday’s Sports winter in Ljubljana allowed visitors of the city center to get acquainted with Cross-country skiing and ski jumping. Both Nordic disciplines were also in the forefront in Planica, where children also took part in snowboarding, sledding, soccer on snow and other activities which rounded up the rich programme.
The eight edition of World Snow Day was held in 45 countries and 464 locations, and Planica competed in the first category of awards. This category was designed for those that went ‘beyond the call of duty’, and Planica met many of the criteria.
The award of 10.000 CHF will be dedicated for further promotion and development of Nordic sports. Planica will host the ninth edition of World Snow Day in January 2020 and will continue to strive towards presenting the beauty of sports to children.
